Information and Photos provided by Mark Kawalek Here are a few photos from the HRC youth camp conducted the weekend of June 13th, at the Lake Brownwood 4H camp. Just so you know how your club donations were used, they went into buying and printing the camp T Shirts and providing other hand outs. The T-Shirts had the logo of each sponsor club on the back. Really sharp. The kids had a great time. We held classes from 8:30 on Saturday morning (starting with obedience work by two pros) and the classes ran until 10:00 pm when we ended up with an awesome duck calling session put on by Kelly Haydel with Haydell Game Calls. We covered classes in obedience, marking, basic handling, dog first aid, gun safety, had a presentation on duck identification and conservation by Delta Waterfowl and also the duck calling session by Kelly Haydel. There was a very entertaining session of musical chairs with dogs. Sunday was an actual hunt test where the kids handled their dogs on singles, a double or a triple depending on the dog and kid and then ran a rather meaty finished blind with either their dog or one of the big dogs that was provided. The bumpers at the blind location had $ duct taped to the bumper. So each kid had the opportunity to pick up between $5 and $50 depending on which bumper their dog picked up. The kids had to blow a duck call and shoot a shotgun (some with a little help). Kids ages ranged from 8 to about 14. They were great.
