President’s Message:
(Note from Webmaster, the presidents message was written back on December 9th. and is being presented in its original form with no editting.)

It is the end of the year, and the weather is not what some would like to see, but others are happy it is not cold out.  For the ones that want the cold weather to come around its not looking that good.  Duck season has been interesting.  Opening weekend there were some birds than it seemed like they were all gone.  Then came Thanksgiving, and boy did it turn cold that weekend.  That is when I started seeing more birds.  Now that the season has closed for two weeks, the weather seems more like early Spring instead of Fall.  All we can do is hope that it starts getting colder and more birds come our way soon.

This year Lone Star Members came together for a lot of great and fun events.  Lets look back on the year….  We started of 2007 with our hunt test out at the Owens Ranch in Bowie, TX.  That test was Lone Star’s 21st anniversary hunt.  We had a great turn out and the weather was wonderful with the exception of the wind.  The next event was the Day in the field at the Top Dog competition.  We added the Top Seasoned Dog which was won by Duke Robertson and “Lil” and this years Top Finished Dog goes to Last year’s winner Chris Dodson and “Twister”.  What a great day that was.  From there our 3rd event was the Top Gun shoot held out at Elm Fork Shooting sports and the winner of this was Mike Malone.  Last but probably the most fun of the year was our Christmas party that was held at Dale and Patty’s house.  It is hard to put into words how hard Patty and Dale work for this fun time.  Dale was painting the house nights before, and Patty hanging decorations and getting the lights and the Christmas tree up..  The house looked like a picture from a magazine.  Both of them do so much for the club and then they open their house for us to all get together.  A big thanks go out to both of them for allowing us to take over their house for the night.  At the party we had our Duck Calling contest.  The heat was on this year for everyone wanting their name on the trophy.  This year 3rd place was taken by Mark Triolet.  There was a tie for 2nd place that went too Ray Simms and Jimmy Fischer.  The 1st place trophy goes to the raining champion Dale Flenthrope.  We concluded the evening with the club awards and the gift exchange.  What a fun time shared with good friends.

My term as Lone Star HRC’s President comes to a close.  I have a lot of good memories of the past 2 years and then the 2 years before that as VP.  Times spent out in the field training, going to hunt tests, and hunting with many of you.  All of these were great times.  There is a lot that many of you have taught me, some good and some bad.  One thing is we call each other friends, but down deep we are all family.  All of us have one thing in common, we are all out here for the good of the dogs.  The club will have a new Board starting the first of the year.  They are Seth Kelly President, Bobby Geckler Vice President, Carl Petrey Treasurer, and Sarah Krause Secretary.  This is going to be a great group to take Lone Star into the future.  They will bring up new ideas and try new things.  Please support them and help all into the next two years.

One last message, I would like to take a moment and let Bruce and Dale know how much I appreciate all their help and what they have done for Lone Star throughout the last 4 years.  As a lot of you know Dale has been a member of Lone Star for more that 17 years.  He also spent 17 years as HRC Region 12 Rep.  Without members like Dale HRC and Lone Star would not be what they are today.  On to Bruce what can I say, he spent 4 years taking care of the books for the club.  Always making sure our membership with HRC and our insurance is up to date.  The time he and Cathy put in on the hunt tests and the sleepless nights getting the web site working.  Bruce is another member that put the club’s business on the top of the pile.  Some might think I have forgotten about Sarah for the past 2 years, but that one is hard for me to forget.  She has done a great job for the club and you all have her for another 2 years.  She will continue to do her job and help move the club in another direction.  Thanks to everyone that has passed though the doors as a member or a visitor to Lone Star.  You all have made a difference for this organization.  Keep working your dogs and know without a club like Lone Star, it will be harder to meet life long friends.

At the end of the night, pet your four legged friends even if they just chewed up your shoes.

See you at the line.

Kyle

Secretary’s Message:

I couldn’t have said thank you better than Kyle just did.  Dale and Bruce, please re read what Kyle wrote about you two.  Just kidding, I would like to thank you both personally for the hard work that you have put into Lone Star.  The club has been great for the past four years.  Everything has been taken care of because of your help and dedication to Lone Star. Thank you both for such hard work and so many fun times.

I would also like to thank Kyle.  He really enjoyed being the President and Vice President of Lone Star for the past four years.  Even if he was unable to attend a meeting do to work travels, he still spent the time and talked with the board members and worked on notes for the meetings.  I thank him for working so hard on everything.  He will not be going far I can assure you.  He will still be helping a lot with the hunt test that is coming up in March.

I thank you all for letting me serve you as Secretary for the past two years and look forward to the next two years with a new board.  I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in 2008!!!

See you at the meeting if not before.

Sarah

Treasurer's Message:
This is my last treasurer's message.  I have enjoyed being the treasurer for the last 4 years.  I too want to thank the other old board members for all their help and wish the best for the new board.  The club will be in good hands.  I would also like to thank all the club members for participating in the club activities and supporting other clubs in the area.

Bruce
