President’s Message: The dust has settled and our Spring Hunt Test 2008 is now behind us. And what a great test it was. If you were not there, you missed a great time. Not only was this the best Lone Star HRC hunt test that I’ve attended, but probably the best hunt test period that I have ever attended. Thanks to all of the great help we had, our hunt test was a huge success. I received many compliments about our test, both during and after, from judges, workers and people running their dogs. That makes me proud to be a part of this club. My hat’s off to all of the Lone Star members that helped make this a success. Without great members to volunteer, this would not be possible. I’d like to personally thank everybody that helped out at the test. Hopefully I’ve included everybody. I apologize if I’ve left anybody off. Please let me know if that’s the case. So with no further ado, and in no particular order, I’d like to thank Kevin Buckley, Dana Villasenor, Wade Duay, Becky Hansen, J.T. and Sam Hansen, Patty Collins, Dale Flenthrope, John Wallace, Dave and Patti Benton, Mark Kawalek, Kathy McBride, Bobby and Stacey Geckler, Bill Geckler, Jim and Judy Windham, Charles and Judy Pugh, Bruce and Cathy Cade, David Hausman, Greg and Melissa Kulesz, Carl Petrey, Amy and Boone Pyeatt, Jimmy Fischer, Kyle and Sarah Krause, Jay Patton, Richard Pulvino and Bob and Donna Starford. I’d like to send out a special thanks to some of the key people that helped put this all together, and keep it running smoothly. Special thanks to Kyle Krause who did a great job as hunt test chairman. Becky Hansen was a great hunt test secretary. As well, Jimmy Fischer provided delicious BBQ as always. Bill Geckler kept the lunches and dinner rolling off the grill. John Wallace and Dale Flenthrope as game and gun stewards respectively. And of course, a huge thanks to Patty Collins for providing us with a wonderful raffle. The numbers are not in yet, but with the help of Patty’s raffle, we are sure to make a profit from this test. I can’t say enough about how great it is to see everybody pulling together to make this our best test ever. Way to go Lone Star HRC. There are still more hunt tests scheduled for this spring. April 4-5 3-Rivers HRC is holding their test in Wagoner, OK. Texas Panhandle HRC is holding their spring test April 19-20 in Clarendon, TX. 3-Rivers and TPHRC are a bit of a drive, but it’s worth it. Both of these tests are good ones. I look forward to seeing our club members help support the other local clubs, as they usually do. Coming up soon will be our annual Top Dog Event at a date yet to be determined, but most likely in May. The location will be the same as last year, at Bob and Donna Starford’s property. Stay tuned for further details. Don’t forget our next meeting is Thursday April17th at Spring Creek BBQ (SWC Preston and 635) at 7:00 pm. Good luck to all. See you in the field. Seth Kelly
