 Fetch!

The Monthly Newsletter of the Lone Star Hunting Retriever Club

President’s Message:
It’s been a few days since the last FETCH article.  That’s not to say that nothing has been going on, however.  I know I’ve been busy, and apologize for my negligence in writing these articles.

Our annual Top Dog/Fun Hunt is now behind us.  John Wallace and Boo and Bob Starford and Roo took the Top Dog and Top Seasoned Dog Honors respectively.

As well, we’ve had some good training days.  John Wallace has done a fine job keeping things interesting, not only with great set ups, but some great drill demonstrations as well.  A few weeks ago we met for a training day in Anna at the Texas Independent Bird Hunters Association training grounds.  Thanks to Mike Brackin and all of the other TIBHA members for the invite to these great grounds.  Many people attended with dogs of differing levels and breeds.  It was hot, but we still managed to have a good time and share some knowledge.

Another training day will be coming soon.  Saturday June 21st we will have a training day, most likely at the club training grounds in Wylie.  With the weather heating up, we will be starting early.  More details to come as we get closer to that date.  I look forward to seeing everybody there.

Please note that we are NOT having a regular meeting at Spring Creek BBQ this month.  We will hold our regular June meeting after we get done training at the June 21st training day.  The focus of the meeting will be to report the goings-on from the National HRC Meeting in Memphis on June 13-14.

Summer has arrived suddenly and with it comes the heat.  And with heat comes the danger of over-working and over-heating our dogs.  Our best friends can’t cool down as quickly as us and overheating can occur very quickly.  Please be aware of the heat and keep yourself and your dogs safe.

Until next time, good luck to all.  See you in the field.

Seth Kelly

Secretary's Message:

I just wanted to say a few words in the fetch this month.  We have have a lot of new members that have joined Lone Star HRC here in just the past two months.  I just wanted to welcome you to the club and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact one of us.  We are very glad that you have joined our club.

Also, just in case you haven't noticed, there are new pictures up on the Photo page.  They are the photos from the training day in Anna.  Like Seth said earlier, we are not having a June meeting, but we will meet after the training day on Saturday June 21st.   I look forward to seeing you there.

Hugs to the dogs,
Sarah
