President’s Message:
The 2009-2010 duck season is behind us. Hope all had a good season with lots of hunts and memorable times in the field. It’s now time for us to get our retrievers tuned up and ready for hunt test season. Lone Star members will be out at the training ground from time to time so please remember not to drive to the back if the ground is wet. We are lucky to have this property to use so close to town.

At January’s meeting we talked about planning for Lone Star’s Hunt Test. The property we’re using this year is in Royse City, TX. The hunt test board checked out the property a few weekends ago and tried the food at the “Fish Camp” restaurant. The food is very good. Friday night of the test we will be holding our judges/workers dinner at the “Fish Camp”. They will be providing the lunches for the judges, workers and bird boys, so this year we won’t be cooking any food. Hunt test participants will be able to go to the restaurant and order whatever they want for lunch Saturday and Sunday.

We still need some marshals for Seasoned and Finished and a Gunner in Started. If you are going to run your dog in one of these categories or just want to help out please let me know so I can put you on the list. Kevin Buckley is working very hard on the raffle so please send all ideas to him at 214-236-2645.

Here are some of the hunt tests that will be in our area in the upcoming months: Cowtown HRC Feb 20, 21 in Fairfield, TX; North East Texas HRC March 6, 7 in Point, TX; Raven’s Way HRC March 13, 14 in Madisonville, TX; Lone Star HRC March 20, 21 in Royse City, TX; Bryan-College Station HRC March 27, 28 in Iola, TX; Four States HRC March 27, 28 in Simms, TX; and Three Rivers HRC May 1, 2 in Inola, OK. I hope you will be able to attend some of the tests. Good luck.

With all these tests coming up, most club members will be out training on the weekends. The club will be trying to hold regular training days at different locations but with most of the tests in March we might not be able to have an official club training day that month. On February 13^th we had a training day in Wylie with a good turn out. With snow on the ground it was something different that we don’t see every day.

Please don’t forget the club meeting on 2-18-10 at Spring Creek BBQ.

Just a reminder, while out hunting take a camera to capture pictures of your decoy spreads and dogs in the field.

Please let me know if your dog(s) get titles or other awards so I can update the Recognitions Page with their accomplishments.

We are always looking for pictures to be submitted for Picture of the Month, pictures of your dog for the Portrait Page and pictures from hunt tests or hunts, and even training days. Please send them to bacade@tx.rr.com. Also include a note as to what the picture is of, who is in the picture and who took the picture. If you do not have a digital picture, you can send me a print and I will scan it. Let me know if you want the picture back. The address to send them to is:

Training Days

Training grounds in Wylie are available for members to use. Please remember to lock the gate after you enter and when you leave. Please do not to drive to the back when the road is wet. Training days are normally on Saturday mornings starting around 8:00 AM. Watch your e-mail for notification of members going out to train.
