The Monthly Newsletter of the Lone Star Hunting Retriever Club

President’s Message:
Lone Star members just completed our 2010 Top Dog (Fun Hunt).  Even though the temperature was hot and there was not much wind, we still had 25 club members attend.  Dale Flenthrope and Seth Kelly set up  fair but challenging tests.  In the Finished category we had 10 dogs competing for the Top Dog Trophy.  In Seasoned we had 6 dogs compete for the Seasoned Top Dog Trophy.  There were 7 started dogs that also ran.  Some members were able to use this time and experience to help their dogs out if they needed it, and then there were many others that did not need help and did very well.  Here are the New TOP DOGS.  Congratulations on the Finished Top Dog Title to Bear owned by Jim Windham and the Seasoned Top Dog Title goes to Woody owned by Bruce Potter.  Also a big congrats goes out to all the handlers and dogs that ran at the Windham’s property.

I would like to thank the following club members for all their help at this event.  Thanks goes out to Jim and Judy Windham for allowing all of us to take over their property for the day.  Thanks to Dana Buckley for cooking those great sausage wraps.  Dana worked very hard cooking and preparing the food, so thanks Dana.  Also without these club members reloading wingers all day we would not have been able to put on such a fun event.  Manley Renalds, Bruce Cade, Sarah, Krause, Carl Petrey and Bruce Potter.  Thanks to all that attended.

This month one of Lone Star’s past Presidents, Gary Mathis, passed away.  We would like to send our thoughts and prayers to Diane Mathis and their family.  Lone Star HRC made a donation to the HRC Foundation in Memory of Gary.  If you care to make a donation, the family requests donations be made in honor of his grandson, Ethan to:

Autism Speaks, Inc.

Dallas, TX 75240-6416

We will be having a training day on July 11th to be held at Marks a Lot Kennels in Caddo Mills, TX.

See you at the line.

Kyle

We are always looking for pictures to be submitted for Picture of the Month, pictures of your dog for the Portrait Page and pictures from hunt tests or hunts, and even training days.  Please send them to  bacade@tx.rr.com.  Also include a note as to what the picture is of, who is in the picture and who took the picture.  If you do not have a digital picture, you can send me a print and I will scan it.  Let me know if you want the picture back.  The address to send them to is:
