President’s Message:

The 2010-2011 duck season is behind us. Hope you all had a good season with lots of hunts and memorable times in the field. It is now time for us to get our retrievers tuned up and ready for hunt test season. Lone Star members will be out at the training ground from time to time so please remember NOT to drive to the back if the ground is wet. Please remember to close gates behind you too. We are lucky to have this property to use so close to town.

At last months meeting we talked about the planning of Lone Star’s Hunt Test. At that time we did not know the location of the test. We have finally gotten the grounds taken care of. This year we will be holding the test in Point, Texas just east of Dallas. There are several things that still need to be taken care of. For instance, what we are going to do for the lunches and Saturday dinner? We still need to get some marshals for Started, Seasoned and Finished, and we are looking for a Gunner in Started. If you are going to run your dog in one of these categories or just want to help out please let me know so I can put you on the list.

The Club Premium is ready and is online at www.huntsecretary.com. Also we will be having one flight of Finished so get your entry in early to ensure you have a spot. If you have any questions let me know.

I hope you will be able to attend some of the tests and good luck to you and your dog(s).

With all these tests, most club members will be out training on weekends. The club will be trying to hold regular training days at different locations, but with most of the tests in March we might not be able to have an official club training day that month.

Please don’t forget the club meeting at Spring Creek BBQ on February 17th.

Well it is that time of the year to remind members that the memberships expired at the end of last year.

Only paid members will receive notifications of club events, activities and use of club training grounds. The club single membership price is $25 and the family membership is $30. Please fill out a new membership application so we can have updated information on everyone.

Membership Drive Contest!!!!!!!!!!
We are holding a contest to see which members can refer the most NEW members to Lone Star HRC. The contest will run until the end of November 2011. The membership form now contains a line for "Referred By", so please make sure your referrals put your name there. The first prize is a free run at the 2012 LSHRC Hunt Test. The second prize is a family membership to LSHRC for the 2012 calendar year. In case of a tie, a drawing will be held to get the winners.

Webmaster Message:
Just a reminder, while out hunting take a camera to capture pictures of your decoy spreads and dogs in the field.

Please let me know if your dog(s) get titles or other awards so I can update the Recognitions Page with their accomplishments.

We are always looking for pictures to be submitted for Picture of the Month, pictures of your dog for the Portrait Page and pictures from hunt tests or hunts, and even training days. Please send them to txbruce@gmail.com. Also include a note as to what the picture is of, who is in the picture and who took the picture. If you do not have a digital picture, you can send me a print and I will scan it. Let me know if you want the picture back. The address to send them to is:

Training Days

Training grounds in Wylie are available for members to use. Please remember to lock the gate after you enter and when you leave. Please do not to drive to the back when the road is wet. Training days are normally on Saturday mornings starting around 8:00 AM. Watch your e-mail for notification of members going out to train.
